Unmissable trophy

An unmissable trophy is a trophy that will unlock automatically as the player plays through the game's regular campaign, without requiring the player to perform any specific action or complete any specific accomplishment other than proceeding through (or finishing) the game. Unmissable trophies are usually related to storyline progression in a game. For example, many games award trophies for completing certain boss fights or chapters in the storyline, or completing the entire game. Note that unmissable is not simply the opposite of missable: a trophy can be missable, unmissable, or neither.

Almost all games have at least a few unmissable trophies, and on the other end of the spectrum, some games consist entirely of unmissable trophies (see below).

Games consisting entirely of unmissable trophiesEdit

Some games are such that every one of their trophies is awarded just for completing the game. This type of trophy list is common among visual novels and adventure games, particularly episodic adventure games like those made by Telltale Games. These games are typically very easy to platinum.

  • Not only are this game's trophies all unmissable, but they are given out simply for letting the game run for 5 minutes and 15 seconds. They do not require any input from the player (making them freebie trophies).

  • Not only are this game's trophies all unmissable, but the game features autoplay, which lets you earn all four trophies without having to actually interact with the game at all (in about 5 minutes total).

  • Every single trophy in the game is tied to story progression and cannot be missed.
  • This game is also very short, so the player will likely earn the platinum trophy in somewhere around 4–8 hours.

Games consisting *almost* entirely of unmissable trophiesEdit

There are also some games such that almost all of their trophies are unmissable. For example, some games consist only of unmissable trophies plus some trophies for finding collectibles, or a trophy for completing the game on a high difficulty setting.

  • All except for 1 of this game's trophies are unmissable. The remaining trophy, Cyantific Apparatus (gold), is awarded for finding all 28 of the game's collectibles.

  • 9 of the game's 11 trophies are unmissable. However, the remaining two trophies, Seasoned Commander (gold) and Veteran Commander (gold), are awarded for completing the game on Normal and Hard difficulties, respectively.
  • Because the difficulty trophies stack, all trophies are awarded for completing the game on Hard mode (which is not very hard).

  • While the player will not earn many trophies on their way to one ending of the game, it is designed from the ground up that the player should play the game in such a way that they obtain all endings (i.e., there are storyline reasons for seeing multiple "endings").
  • The only trophies that the player might not unlock automatically on their way to the game's "true" ending are Escapey (bronze), Escapest (gold), Redacted (gold), and A Consumate Collection (gold).
