Mega Man 10 is a platformer game in the Mega Man series of video games developed by Capcom. It has an extremely difficult trophy list, with the MR.PERFECT (silver) trophy in particular being one of the most notoriously difficult Playstation 3 trophies that exists, as it requires you to play through this (quite challenging) game without getting hit a single time. In particular, one of the game's later levels requires the player to defeat 9 bosses in a row in a single level (and thus without saving or taking damage, if the player wants that trophy). It is available as part of the Playstation Now streaming service. It was offered as a free Playstation Plus game in North America in January 2013.[1]

Roadmap[edit]

Step 1: Play through the game on Normal difficulty[edit]

First, just play through the game on Normal difficulty, without worrying about trophies. Note that you must play on Normal difficulty (not Easy difficulty) in order to unlock Hard difficulty, which is required for the SUPERHERO (bronze) trophy in the next step. You will get WHOMP WILY! (bronze) in this step, and you might as well try to get HEADBANGING (silver), WORLD WARRIOR (bronze), TRUSTY SIDEARM (bronze), and/or NO COFFEE BREAK (bronze) too in order to save yourself time later on.

Step 2: Play through the game on Hard difficulty[edit]

The game was already pretty challenging on Normal difficulty, but Hard difficulty ramps it up even farther. Enemies move significantly faster in this mode, and beating the game will be quite a challenge. It is technically possible to combine this step with the next one (thus saving you one playthrough of the game), but doing so makes the (already very difficult) game much, much harder.

In this step, your only goal is to get SUPERHERO (bronze).

Step 3: Play through the game (on Easy difficulty) without taking damage[edit]

This step is brutally difficult—you must play through the entire game without taking damage even once. Fortunately, you can save between every level of the game (even the Dr. Wily levels at the end of the game when playing on Easy difficulty), so you can just load up a prior save if you do get hit. However, this trophy will still be extremely difficult no matter how you cut it.

In this step, you will unlock the following trophies (note that you may have already unlocked 3 of them previously – the one you are really shooting for is MR.PERFECT (silver), and earning it will automatically get you the others):

(silver)HARD ROCK
(silver)TENACIOUS
(silver)INVINCIBLE
(silver)MR.PERFECT

Step 4: Clean-up[edit]

If you are still missing any trophies (like BLUE BOMBER (silver)), go back and earn them now.

Trophies[edit]

WHOMP WILY!
WHOMP WILY! WHOMP WILY! [add/edit tips]
Clear the game once.

Story-related and unmissable. Simply play and complete the game on either Easy or Normal difficulty. However, since you need to complete the game on Normal difficulty in order to unlock Hard difficulty (which is needed for SUPERHERO (bronze)), you might as well play through on Normal difficulty. You can play as any of the game's characters (Mega Man, Proto Man, or Bass).

Here is a list of all of the game's bosses, their recommended completion order, and which weapons they are weak to: Boss Order (+ Weapon Weaknesses):

  • Pump Man: weak to the Electric Wool (but use your default weapon since you should complete his level first, as it is the easiest)
  • Solar Man: weak to the Water Shield
  • Chill Man: weak to the Solar Blaze
  • Nitro Man: weak to the Chill Spikes
  • Commando Man: weak to the Wheel Cutter
  • Blade Man: weak to the Commando Bomb
  • Strike Man: weak to the Triple Blade
  • Sheep Man: weak to the Rebound Striker
  • Final boss (Dr. Wily's true form): weak to the Chill Spikes
BLUE BOMBER
BLUE BOMBER BLUE BOMBER [add/edit tips]
Clear the game in under an hour.

This trophy requires you to complete the game within 1 hour, which is not as difficult as it sounds. You can either combine this with one of your first 3 playthroughs of the game, or you can do a separate 4th playthrough just for this trophy. You should be able to beat all 8 of the "main" levels of the game within about 25 minutes, and Dr. Wily's castle should take no more than another 25 or so minutes (for a total of 50 minutes), so there is a decent amount of leeway for this trophy – you by no means need to be an expert speed runner to get it, and it might even come naturally on your second or third playthrough.

If you are having trouble with this trophy, make sure that you save your game after every stage that you complete quickly so that you can go back and improve your time later on if you need to.

SUPERHERO
SUPERHERO SUPERHERO [add/edit tips]
Clear the game on HARD.

To unlock this trophy, you must beat the game on HARD difficulty, which is unlocked by first completing the game on NORMAL difficulty (EASY difficulty does not unlock anything). HARD difficulty is quite challenging, with the biggest change from NORMAL difficulty being how much faster enemies move and shoot. There are also some enemies in new positions, and bosses have some new attack patterns.

To make this playthrough a bit easier, you can farm screws so that you can buy lots of energy tanks, weapon tanks, shock absorbers, and Beat calls to make the Wily castle stages at the end of the game easier. You cannot save between levels in Dr. Wily's castle, so make sure that you are well-stocked before entering it.

See MR.PERFECT (silver) for a video guide of how to complete HARD mode (without taking damage!).

HARD ROCK
HARD ROCK HARD ROCK [add/edit tips]
Make it to a boss room without getting damaged.

To unlock this trophy, you must complete one of the game's 8 "main" levels without getting hit a single time. Play on EASY difficulty to make this easier on yourself. This will come naturally (8 times over!) while working toward MR.PERFECT (silver), but if you do not plan to earn that trophy then the easiest stage to earn this trophy on is likely Pump Man's stage.

More about this trophy...
HEADBANGING
HEADBANGING HEADBANGING [add/edit tips]
Defeat the 8 bosses without your helmet on.

To unlock this trophy, you must first earn enough screws so that you can buy the Book of Hairstyles from the store. This item lets you play through the game without your helmet on (as Mega Man only – Protoman and Bass do not work). The downside of playing in this way is that you take twice as much damage from enemies. You must defeat all 8 robot bosses in the game without your helmet on to earn this trophy. You can either play through all 8 "main" stages of the game and face the robot bosses that way, or you can defeat all 8 of them without your helmet on in level 4 of Dr. Wily's castle (the room with the 8 teleport pods that lead directly to the 8 bosses).

Note that if you die, you will have to re-buy the Book of Hairstyles from the store.

See TRUSTY SIDEARM (bronze) for another trophy that you can earn at the same time as this one.

DESTROYER
DESTROYER DESTROYER [add/edit tips]
Defeat 1000 enemies.

You will likely not earn this trophy during your first playthrough of the game, but fortunately it is cumulative across all of your playthroughs, and it will likely come naturally during your third or fourth playthrough, while working toward other trophies. If you want to grind it out, find any corridor where the small screw-like enemies repeatedly come out of the floor and ceiling (e.g., the hallway in the final level of Dr. Wily's castle). These enemies spawn endlessly and in great numbers, so it should not take too long to farm them for 1000 kills.

WORLD WARRIOR
WORLD WARRIOR WORLD WARRIOR [add/edit tips]
Defeat one of every type of enemy.

Warning: This trophy is missable, since some enemies only appear at specific spots in the game, and progress toward this trophy does not carry over between playthroughs of the game.

To unlock this trophy, you must defeat every type of enemy at least once. The best way to earn this trophy is just to make sure that you kill at least one of every new type of enemy when you see them for the first time in the game. However, even when doing this there are some specific enemies that you should be aware of and keep an eye out for:

  • Chill Man's level: There is a missile-dropping bird that, if you are playing on EASY difficulty, only appears once in the entire game, near the end of the stage. Destroy both the bird and the missile that it drops. It can be made to respawn by going backwards back to it after passing it.
  • Nitro Man's level:
    • You must destroy a giant bus (lay down some Chill Spikes to do so).
    • There are wheel enemies that break into two pieces when they are destroyed. Make sure that you destroy both of those pieces.
  • Sheep Man's level: There are mouse cursor enemies that create blocks that fly toward you. Destroy a mouse cursor as well as one of the blocks that they make.
  • Multiple levels: There are fast-moving small and flat enemies that patrol the ground that can only be destroyed with the Chill Spikes.
TRUSTY SIDEARM
TRUSTY SIDEARM TRUSTY SIDEARM [add/edit tips]
Defeat the 8 bosses with just your default weapon.

To unlock this trophy, you must defeat each of the 8 robot bosses using just the Mega Buster (i.e., the default weapon). You can earn this during your NORMAL difficulty playthrough of the game, or on a separate EASY difficulty playthrough. Just like with HEADBANGING (silver), you can either do this when you fight the 8 bosses the first time going through their levels, or when you face them in level 4 of Dr. Wily's castle (the room with the 8 teleport pods that lead directly to the 8 bosses).

NO COFFEE BREAK
NO COFFEE BREAK NO COFFEE BREAK [add/edit tips]
Clear the game without using any energy, mystery, or weapon tanks.

To unlock this trophy, you must complete it without using any energy, mystery, or weapon tanks. You can pick up or buy those tanks, but using them will void the trophy. This should probably be done on EASY difficulty, as it can be quite challenging to complete on NORMAL or (especially) HARD difficulty.

Keep in mind that you can use other power-ups, so spend your screws on them. Extra lives and 1/2 damage are both extremely useful.

TENACIOUS
TENACIOUS TENACIOUS [add/edit tips]
Clear the game without continuing.

To unlock this trophy, you must complete the game without using a continue (i.e., running out of lives). This will come naturally as a side-effect of earning INVINCIBLE (silver) and/or MR.PERFECT (silver) (or perhaps much earlier when you do your NORMAL difficulty playthrough of the game). If you run out of lives and need to use a continue, simply reload an earlier save from before you died so many times.

INVINCIBLE
INVINCIBLE INVINCIBLE [add/edit tips]
Clear the game without dying.

To unlock this trophy, you must complete the game without dying. This will come naturally as a side-effect of earning MR.PERFECT (silver). If you die, simply reload an earlier save from before you died (thus you should be playing on EASY difficulty, so that you can save between the levels of Dr. Wily's castle).

MR.PERFECT
MR.PERFECT MR.PERFECT [add/edit tips]
Clear the game without getting damaged.

Yes, you read this trophy's description correctly – you must play through the entire game without getting hit a single time. Fortunately, you can play on EASY difficulty and still earn this trophy, and you can save after every level in the game (even the Dr. Wily castle stages, if you're playing on EASY difficulty) that you complete without taking damage, and reload your most recent save if you take damage. However, this will still be one of the most difficult trophies that you ever attempt.

Here is a 6-part video guide for completing the game without taking damage. Note that in these videos the game is being played on HARD difficulty (and thus can also be used as guides for SUPERHERO (bronze)). If you play on EASY difficulty (which you should!), enemies will be slower and shoot less, and in general everything will be easier:
