Fort Defense is a pirate-themed strategy and tower defense game where you can build towers and cast spells to defeat incoming enemy forces before they reach your base. It has a fairly quick and easy trophy list, and its sequel is Fort Defense: North Menace. It is typically considered one of 7 games in a "tower defense collection" of games by the same developer (8Floor Ltd). The games in this collection all play very similarly to each other and have similar trophy lists to one another as well. The other games in this collection are Day D Tower Rush, Fort Defense: North Menace, Iron Sea Defenders, Medieval Defenders, Royal Defense, and Royal Defense: Invisible Threat.

Roadmap[edit]

Step 1: Play through the game, only upgrading a single type of tower and spell[edit]

First, simply play through the game's 20 levels, but watch out for the game's two missable trophies, which require you to fully upgrade a single type of tower and a single spell. Since the number of barrels (which are used to purchase upgrades) available in the game is very limited, you should focus all of your upgrades on just a single type of tower (for Favorite tower (bronze)) and a single spell (for Warlock (silver)) of your choosing. Once you have earned both of those trophies, you can spend your remaining barrels on whichever upgrades you like.

In this step, you will also earn One thousand demons (bronze).

Step 2: 3 stars and clean-up[edit]

Next, go back and earn any of the trophies that you have not yet unlocked. See the individual trophy guides for the following trophies:

(gold)Invulnerable
(silver)Top marks
(bronze)Strike me down!
(silver)Last chance
(bronze)Sea dog
(bronze)Long John Silver
(silver)Magic storm

Once you have earned them all, you will be at 100% completion for this game.

Trophies[edit]

1000 ships sunk

Unmissable. Simply kill 1,000 enemies. This will come naturally while playing through the game the first time. Even if it somehow doesn't come naturally during your first playthrough, it will definitely unlock while earning 3 stars on all levels and cleaning up the game's miscellaneous trophies.

Invulnerable
Invulnerable Invulnerable [add/edit tips]
All episode levels completed with 3 stars

To earn this trophy, you must complete all levels with 3 stars (i.e., without letting a single enemy ship reach your base). Do not worry about this too much your first time through the game, as you can re-play levels later on, once your have purchased lots of upgrades. Getting 3 stars is pretty straightforward once you have fully upgraded a tower (see Favorite tower (bronze))

If you need help getting 3 stars on any of the game's levels, a complete 3-star video guide is provided in this Youtube playlist. The first video is below:

Level completed without using more than 5 towers

As its description suggests, just play through any single level without placing any more than 5 towers. This is easiest to do on level 1, since it has the weakest enemies. Just place 5 arrow towers wherever you like, and you should have no trouble earning this trophy.

Favorite tower

All improvements purchased on a single tower

Missable. For this trophy, you must purchase all upgrades for a single type of tower, which costs a total of 210 barrels. This trophy is missable since there are only 400 total barrels available in the game (20 for 3-starring each of the game's 20 levels), so you can be locked out of it if you spread your barrels out between different types of towers and spells. See also Warlock (silver), which is missable for a very similar reason.

One spell improved to maximum level

Missable. For this trophy, you must purchase all upgrades for a single type of spell, which costs a total of 140 barrels. This trophy is missable since there are only 400 total barrels available in the game (20 for 3-starring each of the 20 game's levels), so you can be locked out of it if you spread your barrels out between different types of towers and spells. See also Favorite tower (bronze), which is missable for a very similar reason.

Level failed 3 times in a row

As its description suggests, just fail the same level 3 times in a row. After failing, press the replay button, and then repeat again after you lose the second time. Note that it might be a bit faster to lose on the mid-game levels than the early-game levels since there will be enough enemies to kill you in wave 1, but the difference is relatively minor.

Last chance
Last chance Last chance [add/edit tips]
Level completed with last remaining life

To unlock this trophy, beat a level with just one life (heart) remaining. This is easiest done on level 1 – purposes let all enemies through in the first wave (sell the arrow tower that you start with), and then let enough enemies through in wave 2 to reduce you down to one life before building towers. You can directly target specific enemy ships to make this easier.

Level completed in fast mode

Simply play through any level (level 1 is the easiest) in fast mode to unlock this trophy. Just press the fast-forward button (instead of the play button) after placing your defences and then play through the level normally – you should not have any trouble.

Long John Silver

Only one enemy ship attacked the outpost gates during the level

For this trophy, you must let exactly one enemy ship reach your base during a level. This will earn you a 2-star score on the level and unlock this trophy. If you do not earn it naturally, simply re-play level 1 and purposely let exactly one ship through your defences.

200 spells cast

This trophy will likely come naturally as long as you cast spells regularly while playing the game (which you should – they do not cost anything to cast). If you still do not have it by the time you have earned the other trophies, just replay a level, cast all 5 of your spells, and then repeat until the trophy unlocks.
