Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is an action role-playing game in the Final Fantasy series of video games. It is a high-definition remaster of the PSP game of the same name. It is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries of Final Fantasy games, and thus shares a common mythos with Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy 15.

It is structured slightly differently than most Final Fantasy games, and is split into two distinct phases: main storyline missions, and side quest free time. During your free time, there is a time management mechanic in place that prevents you from taking on too many side quests at a time (though this mechanic does not take place in real time like Final Fantasy 13: Lightning Returns, but rather each quest and action uses a specified amount of time). During the main storyline quests you are not restricted in the same way, but your performance is graded at the end of each mission.

It is a much quicker game to platinum than most of the other Final Fantasy games, and almost all of the trophies will be obtained naturally as the player plays through the game. Indeed, the most challenging part of obtaining the game's platinum trophy is completing the game itself, which is actually somewhat challenging.

General tipsEdit

Keep the following tips in mind as you play through the game:

  • Dodge a lot. To dodge, press "O". This will be the main thing keeping you alive most of the time, and there is a trophy awarded for dodging 500 times (Emergency Evasion (bronze)).
  • Keep multiple save files. Some of the missions in the game are quite long, and once a character dies, they are no longer usable until the mission is over. You don't want to get stuck at the final boss of a chapter with only one character. Furthermore, there is a point of no return in Chapter 7 of the game, so you want to have a save file from before that point as well.
  • Level up several characters, not just your three favorites. Many of the late-game missions split up your party, and there are some places where the game will instantly kill whichever character you are currently controlling, so you need quite a few strong characters.
  • There is an infinite XP exploit that can get your characters to level 99 in about 30 minutes. See the video at Hard Work's Reward (bronze) for details.

RoadmapEdit

Step 1: Play through the game up until Chapter 7 on any difficultyEdit

First, play through the game up until you finish the first mission in Chapter 7. This is the point of no return for the game, and many trophies will be locked out once you start the second mission of Chapter 7, so make sure that you create a separate save file at this point.

You can play on any difficulty setting you like, so feel free to choose Cadet (the easiest difficulty) if you want. You will earn the vast majority of the game's trophies just by playing through the game.

Also try to earn Secret of Souls (bronze) as you play through the game so that you don't have to grind for it later on. After this step, you should earn all of the following trophies, and likely a few more miscellaneous ones as well:

(bronze)Enter Class Zero  unmissable
(bronze)Shots Fired  unmissable
(bronze)Expanding the Theater  unmissable
(bronze)A Frantic Flight  unmissable
(bronze)War of the Wyverns  unmissable
(bronze)The Forbidden Savior  unmissable
(bronze)Communing with the Gods
(bronze)Skilled Slayer
(silver)The Executioner
(bronze)A Simple Skirmish  unmissable
(silver)A Full-Scale War  unmissable
(bronze)The White Tiger Roars  unmissable
(bronze)Taming the White Tiger  unmissable

Step 2: Get the other missable trophiesEdit

Once you reach the point of no return, there are a few missable trophies that you should make sure that you have unlocked. Check the requirements for each of the following trophies, and earn them before proceeding:

(bronze)The Hunted Becomes the Hunter  missable
(silver)Total Domination
(bronze)The Ark of Agito
(bronze)Master Marksman
(bronze)Rookie Wrangler
(silver)The Chocobo Whisperer
(bronze)Eggs-citing Development
(silver)One Big Happy Flock
(bronze)Hard Work's Reward
(bronze)The Great Liberator
(bronze)Teacher's Pet
(bronze)Moogle Mingler

Step 3: Complete the gameEdit

Now simply finish the game. In this step, you will earn:

(silver)Conclusion to Combat  unmissable
(gold)What Lies Beyond  unmissable

Step 4: Mission select and clean-upEdit

Finally, look at the individual trophy guides below to earn any trophies that you have missed via mission select. Once you get them all, you will get your shiny new platinum: Agito Achieved (platinum).

Completed a mission without allowing any casualties.

If you play the game on Cadet difficulty (the easiest difficulty setting), you will almost definitely earn this trophy naturally as you play through the game. You can earn it early in Chapter 2 to make it easy on yourself, since by that point you will have learned how the game works, but the missions will still be fairly straightforward. Simply do not let any of your characters die during a mission. Note that characters dying while equipped with auto re-raise do count as deaths that void this trophy, which means that you are unlikely to earn this trophy in Chapter 1. If you would like to see a video guide for this trophy, see Top Form in the Field (bronze).

Harvested 100 phantoma.

After you defeat an enemy, you can lock onto them with "R1" and then press "square" to harvest "phantoma" from them. This restores some of your MP and also damages nearby enemies. Do this 100 times to unlock this trophy. Focus on doing this continuously as you play through the game and you should earn this trophy very early. See also Secret of Souls (bronze).

Landed Killsight strikes on 20 enemies.

When locked onto an enemy with "R1", every now and then the blue lock-on cursor will change to yellow or red. If you successfully attack them while the cursor is one of these different colors, you will either deal massive damage or instantly kill them – this is a Killsight strike. Do this 20 times to unlock the trophy. Note that this trophy will almost definitely unlock naturally very early on in the game (around Chapter 2 or so), even if you don't actively try to land Killsight strikes. Also see The Executioner (silver).

As you walk around on the overworld, you will occasionally be randomly entered into a battle with some enemies. Simply win the battle to earn this trophy. Note that you will naturally enters dozens of overworld battles over the course of the game. The only way to not obtain this trophy is if you flee from all of them. As long as you do not flee from most overworld battles and do not always use a chocobo on the overworld, you should obtain this trophy naturally as you play through the game. However, it may require some grinding for some people, so make sure you earn it before the point of no return in Chapter 7.
