Fallout 3 is a first-person role-playing game (RPG) in the Fallout series of video games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. Its sequel is Fallout 4, but it was also followed up by Fallout: New Vegas. It originally released without trophies, but a patch was released on December 15, 2008 to add trophy support to the game.[1]

This trophy is awarded for earning all trophies in the game.

Vault 101 Citizenship Award
Vault 101 Citizenship Award Vault 101 Citizenship Award [add/edit tips]
Got the Pip-Boy 3000

Story-related and unmissable. At the start of the game, while you are still in Vault 101, you will have a birthday present. You will receive the Pip-Boy 3000 as a birthday present, which unlocks this trophy. This will likely be the first trophy that you earn in the game.

The G.O.A.T. Whisperer
The G.O.A.T. Whisperer The G.O.A.T. Whisperer [add/edit tips]
Took the G.O.A.T.

Warning: Even though this trophy is story-related, it is slightly missable (you will likely earn it through natural story progression).

This trophy is earned very early in the game, while you are still in Vault 101. After speaking with your father in his office (you should probably pick up the Bobblehead required for Vault-Tec C.E.O. (gold) while you're in there), go into the classroom and take the G.O.A.T. (a test in which you are asked a series of questions that determine the nature of your character). This trophy can be missed by skipping the test then telling Mr. Brotch to give you a grade anyway.

Escape!
Escape! Escape! [add/edit tips]
Completed "Escape!"

Story-related and unmissable. This trophy unlocks once you escape from Vault 101 near the start of the game.

Following in His Footsteps
Following in His Footsteps Following in His Footsteps [add/edit tips]
Completed "Following in His Footsteps"

Warning: Although this trophy is story-related it is slightly missable (though you will likely obtain it through natural story progression).

After escaping from the Vault (see Escape! (bronze)), you will start looking for your father. You will eventually come to a city area called Chevy Chase North that contains numerous Super Mutants and a Super Mutant Behemoth. After taking down the Super Mutant Behemoth, you will go inside a building and speak with Three Dog, at which time the trophy will unlock.

This trophy can be missed if you attack Three Dog instead of speaking to him, or if you perform a sequence break in the game's storyline (e.g., if you go to Vault 112, where your father is trapped in a simulation, before the storyline quests indicate that you should go there).

Galaxy News Radio
Galaxy News Radio Galaxy News Radio [add/edit tips]
Completed "Galaxy News Radio"

Warning: Even though this trophy is story-related, it is slightly missable (you will likely obtain it through natural story progression though).

To make sure that you do not miss this trophy, simply do not attack Three Dog when you meet him at the end of the "Following in His Footsteps" quest (see Following in His Footsteps (bronze)). Also, if you succeed in your speech check against him, make sure that you talk to him again until he gives you the "Galaxy News Radio" quest. This trophy unlocks after you complete that quest and return to Three Dog.

Tranquility Lane
Tranquility Lane Tranquility Lane [add/edit tips]
Completed "Tranquility Lane"

Story-related and unmissable. This trophy is unlocked by completing the "Tranquility Lane" main storyline quest, which takes you to Vault 112 to find your father in a simulation. The quickest way to complete the simulation portion of this quest is to use the Fail Safe option (which also avoids you earning a lot of Bad Karma).

To activate the Fail Safe, first talk to Old Lady Dithers, who will points you in the direction of an Abandoned House. Inside that house, there are numerous objects that emit a sound when activated. Interact with them in the following order: Radio, Pitcher, Gnome, Pitcher, Cinder Block, Gnome, Bottle. A terminal will then appear, so you should interact with it and choose the "Chinese Invasion" option and then leave the house.

The trophy unlocks a short while later, during a conversation with your father.

Reached Level 20 with Bad Karma

This trophy unlocks on the stats screen if you have Good Karma when you reach level 20. It might seem like you need to do 3 playthroughs to earn this trophy as well as Paradigm of Humanity (silver) and Last, Best Hope of Humanity (silver) (which are awarded for hitting level 20 with Neutral and Good Karma, respectively), but you can exploit them (as well as the level 8 and level 14 trophies) by playing the game with Good Karma and making a manual save when you are halfway through levels 7, 13, and 19. Then gain a level to earn the Good Karma trophy, reload and do some bad actions to lower your karma a few times before leveling up to get the Neutral Karma trophy, and then reload and do a lot of bad actions to lower your karma enough that you can get the Bad Karma trophy.

Here are some ways to earn Bad Karma:

  • Use the cannibal perk.
  • Kill friendly characters in the game.
  • Steal things (anything highlighted with red text).
  • Pick locks on things that belong to people.
  • Hack into terminals owned by people. In fact, even just activating red-text hackable terminals will lower your Karma, and some of them can be repeated.

Reached Level 20 with Neutral Karma

This trophy unlocks on the stats screen if you have Good Karma when you reach level 20. It might seem like you need to do 3 playthroughs to earn this trophy as well as Scourge of Humanity (silver) and Last, Best Hope of Humanity (silver) (which are awarded for hitting level 20 with Bad and Good Karma, respectively), but you can exploit them (as well as the level 8 and level 14 trophies) by playing the game with Good Karma and making a manual save when you are halfway through levels 7, 13, and 19. Then gain a level to earn the Good Karma trophy, reload and do some bad actions to lower your karma a few times before leveling up to get the Neutral Karma trophy, and then reload and do a lot of bad actions to lower your karma enough that you can get the Bad Karma trophy.

To reach Neutral Karma, use the techniques for raising/lowering your Karma described at the Scourge of Humanity (silver) and Last, Best Hope of Humanity (silver) trophy pages as necessary.

The same strategy that was used to earn Scourge of Humanity (silver) (level 20 with Bad Karma) also applies here, but now you must reach level 30 with Bad Karma, which means you will likely have to grind levels a fair bit. To save yourself time, you should make a manual save of your game when you are halfway through level 29 so that you can use the same save-and-reload trick from earlier to earn True Mortal (bronze) and Messiah (bronze) in the same playthrough (which are awarded for reaching level 30 with Neutral and Good Karma, respectively).

Note that the Devil's Highway perk (which instantly sets you to Bad Karma) can be used to help you get this trophy, but it must be used at level 29 or earlier – using it at level 30 will not unlock this trophy.
