Collectible trophy

(Redirected from Collectible)

A collectible trophy is a trophy that is awarded for finding all of a particular type of collectible within a game (or, sometimes, for finding a certain percentage of collectibles in the game). These types of trophies are particularly common in role-playing games and Metroidvanias.

Notable examplesEdit

This section lists some of the more well-known, difficult, or otherwise notorious collectible trophies that exist.

  • The (bronze!) On the Fly (bronze) trophy requires the player to find a whopping 700 comic pages that are scattered around the open world portion of the game.
  • Fortunately, they become marked on the player's map once they have collected 500 pages, making the remaining 200 much easier to find.

Most games in this series have several types of collectibles to be found, though usually only one or two of them have trophies associated with them.

All games in this series have several types of collectibles to be found, though they have progressively become easier to find in the more recent games.

  • The Rockhound (bronze) from Infamous is one of the most well-known and most-hated collectible trophies that exists. It requires the player to find all 350 blast shards in the game world. While only a few of them are difficult to find, the only way to find them is to get close enough to them to see them on your mini-map, and they are not really tracked in-game in any useful way, which makes it extremely easy to miss one and have to scour every inch of the game world in search of the last one.
  • The Just One More (gold) trophy from Infamous 2 also requires the player to find all blast shards, but it is significantly easier this time around because the game's mini-map points you toward the nearest uncollected blast shard, even if it is out of the mini-map's range.

All games in this series task the player with finding hundreds of "precursor orbs".

  • The The Super Orberator (gold) in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy requires the player to find all 2,000 (yes, 2,000) precursor orbs in the game. Fortunately, most of them are easy to find, but a few of them are missable.
  • Similarly, the The Collectationator! (gold) trophy in Jak 2 requires the player to find all 286 precursor orbs in the game. While this may look like an easier task than the first game, it is actually much harder, since the precursor orbs are awarded for completing (very difficult) side quests in this game.
  • Finally, the The Orbiter of Record (gold) trophy in Jak 3 requires the player to find all 600 precursor orbs in the game. Similar to Jak 2, the orbs this time are awarded for completing side quests, though they are slightly easier in Jak 3.

All games in this series have tons of collectibles, and are pretty much designed around that concept. Arguably the point of these games is to explore nooks and crannies and find collectibles.

  • Most games have a couple hundred "gold bricks", which are usually awarded for completing various challenges or finding hidden objects in the game. Trophies tied to collecting gold bricks include:
  • Most games also have a couple dozen red bricks, which unlock cheat codes (like invincibility) in the game.
  • Additionally, these games usually have trophies for collecting millions/billions of studs (the games's currency), but this usually is not too time-consuming thanks to the stud multiplier red bricks that let the player amass a huge quantity of studs easily.
